On Friday afternoon the New Horizons community decided to do the stations of the cross up mount Krizevac. Mount Krizevac is a cross the town from Apparition Hill and offers spectacular views of Medjugorgie the surrounding country side.
Many years before the phenomenon of Medjugorgie started a cross was erected to commemorate 1900 years of the death of Christ.

After morning Mass and breakfast with the Flaming Heart of Love of Mary community we headed to the John Paul II hall behind St James the Greater Church and were treated to a light hearted talk by Dominican priest Fr Leon who underwent a big conversion at Medjugorgie. After the experience he said everything in his life was boring compared to the Blessed Virgin Mary and subsequently gave up a promising medical career to join the Dominicans. He preached on the five main points of the Medjugorgie message of 1. Prayer ( rosary every day- that is the 3 mysteries.) 2. Fasting, Wednesdays and Fridays, bread and water if possible. 3. Reading the Bible, take time to read every day. 4. Reconciliation, at least once a month and finally 5. Eucharist, as frequent as possible.

Back to the New Horizons community for lunch and then it was off to the mountain at 2 pm for the climb. There was about 20 people in our group when we ascended and there was a steady flow groups coming up and down the mountain that we had to navigate around.

Along the way up the stations were makerked with a plaque and a cross with a picture of the station on it. At each station a different reflection was given by either the priest or one of the community members.

The view back over Medjugorgie and surrounds as we ascended.

Looking down on Medjugorgie, with St James the Greater church in the center of the town.

Reaching the top of mount Krisevac.

Views over the other side of the mount. The New Horizons community volunteer accomodation was out this side of Medjugorgie.

The path descending took us around the back of the mountain back to where we started, as you can see plenty of rocks to navigate through.

Some of the crew that made it to the top of the mountain. Myself and Fr. Richard are to the left of the group.
